The holidays are upon us again and although we all love this time of year, sometimes the pressure we put ourselves under to have the ‘perfect’ celebrations can cause so much stress and anxiety that we wonder if it’s all really worth it!
It’s no surprise that according to the American Psychological Association, women are most at risk from holiday stress. No matter how equal the sexes claim to be, it’s still the case that women tend to take charge of most of the organisation of holiday arrangements, whether it’s planning, buying and preparing food, decorating the home, buying the gifts or just organising who goes where. Women also find it harder to relax once the holidays are here and often deal with the build-up of stress (and any family tensions that happen over the holiday periods) by over eating and other not so healthy coping mechanisms. Holiday PressuresAlthough it’s true that most of us claim to look forward to the celebrations at this time of year, we can also get stressed out about them. Men and women both feel under pressure to make the holidays ‘perfect’ for their families, which can lead to arguments and stress. There’s pressure to attend work parties, see friends and not leave anyone out. Money worries add to the mix –celebrating isn’t always cheap – and people also admit that they can’t always switch off from the workplace when they are enjoying festivities, finding themselves stressing about tasks they’ve left behind. Some of us are just working way too hard to enjoy the holidays – 31% of people admitted that they were stressed because they couldn’t get enough time off from the day job to properly enjoy themselves. So – with all this stress build up, you need an escape valve! How to Beat Holiday StressDon’t resort to comfort eating to relieve feelings of anxiety or stress. It feels good at the time and it’s so hard to resist with all the delicious food and invitations to parties that inevitably come up at this time of year, but you’ll just feel sick and bloated if you overdo the candy or delicious party food. Eat whatever you like but try not to eat when you’re feeling tense because being stressed actually affects your digestion and can lead to you feeling even worse. Take some time out for yourself if you feel the pressure of organising (and paying for) everything start to creep up on you. Just because it’s Thanksgiving, or Christmas, it doesn’t mean you have to spend the whole time dealing with the needs of the rest of your family, friends or workplace. You can’t give anything if your own well is empty so treat yourself to a massage instead; not only will a good massage make you feel relaxed and ready to face another round of gift shopping, but it stimulates feel good hormones, boosts your circulation and can even help boost your immune system which is an absolute must if you’re going to be socialising with friends, family and workmates more than usual. Doing something that’s just for you will help improve your mood so that you won’t find it so irritating when people make holiday-related demands on you at this time of year. You’ll feel much more able to deal with fighting kids, annoying relatives and a partner who is too busy watching TV to help you with the washing up if you’ve had your fill of relaxing massage before the holiday season kicks off. It’s your gift to yourself – and as they say in the commercials – you’re worth it!

Sept 2019 I Angie was diagnoised with breast cancer. I would of never of guessed I would ever have this. No one in my family has ever had it. I stayed in shape and for the most part ate well. I found out mine was hormone related. Hmmm never really had any hormone issues. With my amazing palpation skills I found my lump. I went in May for a mammogram they found nothing but a cyst. Went back in June and still nothing. September I decided to call in for an Ultrasound. Sure enough I had cancer. Why not just have an ultrasound and just skip the mammograms all together. Lucky me I found it early. Stage 1. Though stage 1 I still had to have chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. So sad to say this but I am not sure when I can come back hands on massage. I want to thank everyone of my clients for still coming in to the office and utilizing my amazing staff. I feel so blessed to have such a great team to take care of you all while I am away for so long. While away, I am still scheduling the staff and doing office work. With the chemo I have been too weak, tired and my risk of getting sick is very high. So touching is not Dr. approved. Please ladies and gents please check yourself often. The earlier the better. This road I am on has been far from the ideal vacation from work. If you have any questions about what you feel please seek a Dr. immediately, Don't wait. When you find it early you have a way better survival rate. There is a cure at an early stage like mine. I feel blessed.
Kali Barnes has joined Hands of Healing Touch. She is not new to massage but just new to HHT. She is a wonderful addition to our office. She is providing customized deep tissue massage to clients who work a normal 9-5 job. Come see her from 2-7 pm. You will even catch her on a Saturday.
Also Jessica Kahan has opened up more slots on her schedule! She was a full time PTA student who was only working on Saturdays. You can now see her in the after hours as well! We are really trying to accomodate our hard workers who need to come after normal office hours. You will leave feeling better than you came in. Book your appointment online now. Becky Divine, Jeff Tadlock, and Kasaundra Cater are all Massage Therapists waiting to help you with your healthcare needs. If you are hurting come in. It is time to be proactive about your health. We remodeled our healing space just for you to have that close by place to come relax. Once you walk in the door you will instantly feel relaxation.
We hope to see you in soon. 2019 will be a great year for Hands of Healing Touch.
We are adding a new massage therapy treatment room making it a total of 4 rooms. The room addition will help us better treat your needs to feeling better. We might even be able to hire on another qualified rockstar to allow more schedule flexibility! Do you know someone?! We really strive on quality of our services more than quanity. No worries there. We work hard to keep us over four stars on our reviews. Thank you for reviewing us and referring us! We also all carry warm Himalayan salt stones in our treatment rooms. We keep them warm all the time and love using them. We can add on hot stones to any massage. You will love these stones! Another thing our office has in each room is our very cool Ashley Black Facia Blasters. Ask us to use them it's a free add on! For retail products we carry RAD Rollers. They simply are the best on the market for rolling muscles at home. We use them everyday for our own personal self treatment. Every house should have one of these great buys. Come try them out before buying. They can be a little pricy but we refuse to sell junk and these bad boys will last a lifetime. Plus if you find you don't like them I will buy them back... but you will love them. Oh and our NRT sessions are now at this time $85! My normal rate $125. I really wanted a more affordable way to heal you. Note NRT is not a massage it is a treatment in it's self. If you really want to be fixed I suggest you do this first and then add a massage to it after. Helen and Angie are the only people in the office who are offering full body NRT. Emily is offering lower body NRT until she can get into more classes in 2019. We have the ability to do massage add ons but only if you call us. Our MindBody app is a little behind on the add on capability. We are sure that will soon change. MindBody is our online booking system and they make everything stress free on your end and ours. Oh and to mention they help us with our onine gift certificates sales. It's so easy to buy a gift. No need to stop by anymore, unless you just want to say hi! Angie still is not taking on new massage clients. However if you are in need of an NRT or Medical Cupping session call for a consultation and she will do her best to find a spot if she can. Otherwise try Helen for NRT she does the same great work. Emily will be on board to a full body NRT session by the end of the year if not sooner! Sunday massage will be on and off. You will just have to fish for the openings. Jessica is our normal Sunday rock star but she is a PTA student and has studies. She will do her best to open as many as she can handle while being a straight A student. Must I say this girl is strong! Come try her out on Saturdays for sure. Good news with Mirra! She will soon have some more time slots open for you starting in Jan. We have been waiting on the new room addition so we can add her. We hope to see you soon! Exciting changes are happening at our small little massage office. We have a few new people to our addition. Mirra Greenway, Helen Humphreys, and Emily Stuart. We may even add one or two more people to our list of amazing deep tissue therapist. We want to be able to be accessible when you are in pain so we can stop the hurt sooner than later. Don't worry we hire qualified therapist who enjoy working with focused issues. Everyone here has a passion to help in a way that can be customized to your liking. Hope to see you on our books!
Last year Caitlin and I learned Medi Cupping. Medi Cupping has been a huge sucess and easy on our hands.
This year starting the end of Febuary we will be adding a new techinque called Neuro Rest Therapy. {NRT} It will help us become better therapist, more effecient with our time, and be more effective with our clients. Our Feb class is a full weekend lower body and April will be another full weekend upper body. Class time can not come fast enough as we are excited to add to our bag of tricks! We will do anything on our part to help you feel better and faster. The fun blessings of being a MT. We ended 2017 with a new fresh look. We gained a treatment room redecorated and painted. Now we have an even more inviting area for you to relax in. My creative and loving husband (Adam Boster) helped make a really cool art wall out of metalic paint. Though our painting project has a bit more work to go, it's still super cool. I think it's Pintrest ready for the most part. Come see for yourself.
We are now using a new site called MindBody. Please down load the app on your phone. It's easy to book online and can be done any time of the day! Hope you enjoy it as much as we are on our end. If you have any questions on how to use it, just let us know. We will do our best. However we too are learning!
January 2017 my new assistant and I will be off on a cruise to my favorite island of St. Maarten! On this cruise we will learn from Anita Shannon and James Waslaski. James and Anita will be sharing updated research and new techniques on releasing scar tissue, mobilizing advanced stage should and hip capsular patterns, soft tissue techniques to mobilize complicated fixated joint patterns and so much more! We are excited to be gone for this week long trip! So make note we will be out of the office from January 28 through Feb 5. In that week stretch you still can get in with Wanda Haubner. She will be filling in for us as much as her schedule will allow. You will see her schedule up very soon for her fill in dates.
